Liturgical Ministries

Young Catholics who assist at the altar for Sacred Liturgy
Choir
St. Mark's choirs are ministries of song to inspire and encourage the spirits of the congregation.
St. Marks has two choirs - The Sanctuary Choir serves at the 8:30 Mass and The Gospel Choir serves at the 11:15 Mass.Rehearsal - Sanctuary Choir

The commentator welcomes the congregation and guests to St. Mark Church. He/she introduces the readings and the hymns for the service.
Eucharistic Minister
The Eucharistic Ministers are men and women who have a calling to serve the body of Christ in this capacity and are confirmed in it by the pastor for a set period of time.
The Eucharistic minister facilitates and assists in the distribution of the sacred bread and wine during the Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist. This ministry also takes the Holy Eucharist to the homebound faithful and to the faithful in hospitals and nursing homes.Lector/Reader
The lectors of St. Mark are men and women who proclaim the Mass readings at Sabbath and weekday Masses. Lectors are assigned to read on a rotational basis which is determined by the Liturgical committee.
Praise Dancers
Liturgical dance draws on the Holy Spirit to blend music, movement and grace into the expression of our praise and worship of our Lord.
Sacristan
The men and women who prepare and care for the vestments and vessels of the Holy Mass.
They also prepare the bread and wine to be used during the Holy Mass.Ushers
Ushers are called to the task of greeting and seating those who attend the Mass at St. Mark.
It is the ushers ministry to make those who enter the Lord's doors feel welcome and safe. -
Service Ministries
Family Activities Committee
Produces and facilitates events which include family members of all ages.
This includes a toy drive to collect Christmas toys for hospitalized children, the Family Halloween Party, the Family Christmas Party etc.Finance Committee
This group of men and women advises the Pastor in Church finances, budgeting and promote ideas to increase church finances. The group also tally and record monetary offerings to the church in accordance with Archdiocese accounting procedures.Hospitality
These men and women work to create an environment of fellowship and comfort at all church events where food is served.Liturgical Committee
The word, "Liturgy" means, "work of the people".
The Liturgical Committee is responsible for scheduling Commentators, Readers and Eucharistic Ministers. This committee is also responsible for the dressing of the altar in alignment with the liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church (Ordinary time, Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter). An additional responsibility is oversight of all functions pertaining to Liturgy.Office Assistant
Supports the rectory office and communications of St. Mark. They are responsible for answering the phones, taking messages and all other clerical responsibilities. However, this is a ministry so office assistants tend to fill in wherever necessary to serve the parish.Parish Council
The Parish Council is a group of men and women nominated by parishioners and voted into office by a full meeting of the current Parish Council.
The Parish Council serves as the eyes and ears of the Pastor; Alerting him to issues reported by parishioners or observed, investigating those issues and suggesting solutions to the Pastor. The Pastor may accept or reject those suggestions. The Chair and Vice Chair interface with the Vicariate Council as members.
The term of a Parish Council member is two years and may be renewed once before a mandatory hiatus of at least one year. Officers voted into office serve for three years.Rosary Prayer Group
The Rosary Prayer Group prays the Rosary after the 8:30 Mass.
Praying the Rosary is a tradition that began in the early centuries of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church began with the Acts of the Apostles and is therefore over 2000 years old. Praying the Rosary allowed parishioners who could not afford expensive, handwritten prayer books and (in most instances) could not read, to participate in the Liturgy of the Hours prayed by their local monks. The mission of the Catholic Woment for Christ is to serve the church and the pastor in whatever capacity necessary. This includes assisting at church events, prayer and assisting other committees.St. Mark's Men of Commitment
The mission of the Men of Commitment is to serve the church and the pastor in whatever capacity necessary. This includes fundraising, assisting at church events, prayer and assisting other committees. These men assemble as a group once a month.Special Events Committee
Produces, oversees and coordinates major parish events. This includes the offsite parish picnic, dances, trips etc.Sunshine Group
The members of this group send cards and messages to the homebound and ill to let them know that they are not forgotten.
